Fitting a plug is fairly easy. You need a Phillips screwdriver, a lighter and a plug. We have summed up the process in 3 steps:
Step 1: Know where to plug
The first step is to find the spot where you want to fit the plug. Check your board's specifications. If it has a central stringer or three stringers, drilling in the centre of the board is strongly discouraged. If it has two stringers, go for the centre of the board rather than the sides.
(Jérémy Arnoux's tip: I place my plug 2 cm to the left or right of the centre of the board, about fifteen centimetres from the nose. That way the leash gets in the way less on lefts, rights or in drop knee.)
Step 2: Drill the board
Lay the bodyboard flat on the floor or on a table, slick side up.
Heat the screwdriver for 20 seconds, then place it above the spot where you want to drill the board (slick side). Keep the screwdriver perpendicular (perfectly vertical) to the board. Press down until you go all the way through the board.
Step 3: Screw in the plug
Unscrew the two parts of the plug. Insert the threaded part on the slick side and the other part on the deck side. Screw the threaded part in until the slick deforms slightly.
You are ready to hit the water!
