Types of bodyboard wetsuits

The full steamer (long arms and legs) covers the whole body for cool to cold water, while the shorty (short arms and legs) is enough in temperate water in summer. Thickness is given in millimetres (such as 3/2, 4/3 or 5/4): the first number is the chest, the second the limbs to keep flexibility.

Choosing the right wetsuit

Thickness is chosen according to water temperature: a 2/2 or a shorty for warm water, a 3/2 for mid-season, a 4/3 or 5/4 with a hood for winter. Beyond thickness, check the entry system (back zip, chest zip or zipperless) and a snug fit, without folds, to limit water flushing.
