Why choose a foam board

A foam surfboard forgives mistakes and floats far better than a hard board, cushioning impacts along the way. Being more voluminous, it makes paddling and catching waves easier, which speeds up progress. Safe for you and for others, it is also a great choice for kids and surf schools.

Choosing the right softboard size

Pick the size (in feet) and volume according to your build and level. An adult beginner should go for a long, high-volume board (7' to 8'+) for maximum stability; a surfer who is progressing can move to shorter, more manoeuvrable shapes (funboard, mini-malibu, foam fish). The more volume the board has, the easier the take-off.

Care and accessories

A foam board needs little maintenance: rinse with fresh water, dry in the shade and store away from the sun to preserve the foam. Remember a leash to stay connected to your board and a wetsuit suited to the water temperature.
